3) Framing Social Issues: Myths & Activism or Slacktivism? As discussed in Module 4, contemporary efforts to foster awareness and social justice often utilize social media for their causes and reflect aspects of the global village to helppeople become more informed about issues outside of their local experiences. Note: You will need to cite at least four sources in each part of this response, but you can use the same sources in both parts as they connect to your arguments.Part A: Using the Kony 2012 exemplar and the response (or lack thereof), in what waysdoes this video use Western (particularly American) myths and values to support the main arguments?Do you find this problematic when engaging other cultures that audience members may not know much about? Why or why not? You can use the points in the Dyer reading and class lecture(s) to address this part of the response. (30 points)Part B: Using a current example regarding a social issue of your choice that engages social media, explain if you think the use of social media reflects a new way of activism or promotes “slacktivism.” Clearly explain why you think this way. In your response, make sure to explain the social issue and digital platform it utilizes (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, or a combination), as well as the “results” of using this medium. You can use examples such as Black Lives Matter, It Gets Better, Toms “One for One,” Consent is Sexy, or another issue of your choice with a significant digital presence that utilizes social media. Make sure to connect your argument to critical scholars’ goals of agency, awareness, access, and analysis, and activism. When engaging these concepts, explain how your example encourages (or not) engagement or action through the use of social media. Do not assume I’m familiar with your example, so make sure to include a brief overview of the social issue campaign you select. Cite the website(s) and other digital references you use and list them after your response to this prompt so I can find them. (30 points)4) Media Literacy and Intersectionality in Applied Settings-How do I Use This in My“Real” Life? (40 points)Using the interview with Alishia McCullough and her website blackandembodied.com,explain how aspects of media literacy and intersectionality are applied in her work. Usespecific examples (you can cite the interview as McCullough Interview) to connect your analysis with the media literacy circle of empowerment and additional class content.Next, think about your next steps after you complete the class. How will you use what you’ve learned in the future? Of course, you don’t need to create your own business or website, but think about how you will use social media to convey aspects of your social identity and perhaps support others. You can also think about what you will take away from other aspects of popular and culture, such as watching movies with family and/or friends or how it will change how you watch or participate in various forms of media (e.g. critically reading news articles and watching certain movies.)Extra Note: https://youtu.be/Y7nymZEXjf8, this is the link to the Kony 2012 exemplar you need to answer question 3. Also I attached a file of the Kony synopsis which you alsoneed to answer question 3. Also each question is supposed to be 2 pages each, which in toal is 4 pages.
