These define how managers view their employees. This was not covered in the lesson. Do your own research about McGregors theory and answer the following questions:1. Contrast McGregors Theory X and Theory Y assumptions about people. In the 1960s Douglas McGregor created this theory within human motivation and management. The X and the Y are two types or different motivational management aspects for employees. They provide the assumptions of how different employees are motivated using the different scenarios such as X and Y. “Theory X stresses the importance of strict supervision, external rewards, and penalties: in contrast, Theory Y highlights the motivating role of job satisfaction and encourages workers to approach tasks without direct supervision,” (Sorenson, Peter 2015).2. What types of managers have you dealt with in your organization?Within the Army I have dealt with both X and Y managers or leaders. Some prefer the X style with strict supervision or we call it micromanaging but offers awards and strict penalties as well. These guys are closely related to the task and dont really allow for their junior leaders or managers to learn and grow through mistakes because the managers want to handle everything themselves. Working with the Y manager which I have a few times I think works the best. This allows for the subordinate to learn and grow and gives them room for improvement beyond anything else. It allows them to feel more a part of the team and gives them more responsibilities at mission or task. I think people learn better in this light.3. What set of assumptions are you likely to follow and why?I would go with the Y assumptions because it opens the eyes up more of the employee to be more aware of what he or she is doing. They now have more responsibility on their hands unlike operating under a manager that uses the X method. The Y method I believe works best in most situations. However, there are a few instances where the YX method works the bets it al depends upon the situation and type of job that is being done I think too.Sorenson, Peter (2015). ”Theory X and Theory Y”. Management.”
