Southeastern College Fashion Narrative Essay

Tell Your Story: Narrative Essay:

In week one, you chose an idea for your narrative essay. In week two, you wrote an introductory paragraph. In week three, you wrote a body paragraph.  Now it is time to finish the draft of your essay, revise it, and submit it for a final grade.  Below are a few things to consider when writing and revising your narrative:

Purpose:

A narrative essay has a purpose, so you need to have intent and a reason for telling a particular story. Did the time in your life change you in some way? Did you learn a valuable lesson?  What is the reason for telling this story?

Main idea/Thesis:

Whatever your purpose for writing the essay, you will let the reader know in your opening paragraph as you introduce the story. Stating the main idea, also known as a thesis, lets the readers know what to expect as they read. Your thesis may look like this: “The day I applied to college, my outlook on life changed.” Another example might look like this: “Choosing to have a child opened my eyes to other goals.” As you write your essay, keep your thesis in mind, and this will help keep you on track as you write.

Story Elements:

A narrative essay will have the same elements as a short story or novel.  You will have a plot, the series of events that form the story, and a climax, a moment near the end of the story where the conflict in your story is most tense.  Narrative essays should also have characters and a resolution to the conflicts.

Descriptive Language:

You can use descriptive language in your narrative essay. In week three, you practiced describing an object and a setting.  Descriptive language helps your reader connect to your story and have a lasting impact.

Narrative Essay Instructions:

  • The following criteria reflect the areas needed for a successful narrative essay.
  • The essay should have a clear purpose and a main idea/thesis statement within the first paragraph.
  • The narrative should share a larger lesson with the audience than simply retelling an event.
  • A strong narrative centers on a conflict building from introduction to body to a thought-provoking resolution.
  • It should use descriptive language to bring the reader into the experience.

Please see Norton pages 121-30 and Little Seagull pages 58-61 for more details about the qualities of an effective narrative essay.

HIS 112 GMU The Global Conflict that Defined a Century Essay

2. World War I in World History

This material takes us into the first World War along with its immediate aftermath. While the United States had a very small role in WWI (and so we often don’t spend much time on it in our history classes) other nations around the globe were deeply affected by the war and wartime rhetoric. As you move through the materials be sure to note the various ‘spin-off’ events that are prompted by the war and make sure to connect the war to our earlier readings and video content.

To start I’d explore this timeline from the BBC that has the basic progression of the war with the relevant dates – https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/world-war-one-the-global-conflict-that-defined-a-century/zdk9y9q

DVC What Impact Has Rock and Roll Had on Society Discussion

“What impact has rock and roll had on society?” Give examples from the video below (minimum 250 words). Reply to at least one of your classmate’s posts (minimum 50 words).

https://youtu.be/gGt2FKPjuKs

Reply:

Before I watch the video I didn’t realize how powerful is rock and roll music, I know music has the power to influence people, the emotion from the singer who performed the music is not going to lie to people. In the 80s the military dictator Manual Noriega fled across Panama city from one hideout to the Vatican embassy, Americans resorted to musical warfare songs, like refugee by Tom Petty, no particular place to go by Chuck Berry, and Juana dead or alive by Bon Jovi. But Noriega has preferred the delicate sounds of opera but Noriega surrender in 10 days. From that, we can saw how music changes a person or affects a person. It can change people somehow in a mental way, or Noriega is just not able to bear the rock music songs to surrender. Live Aid raising a hundred and fifty million pounds for famine relief and watched by 1.9 billion live on TV, in some way we can say music doesn’t have national boundaries even our language is different but we still can feel the emotion from the music. The race records the artists like Chuck Berry and Fats Domino find an unlikely audience in the white teenagers, their music began to break down the racial barriers by their fans as black and white. After a long time, Buddy Holly start to tach black venues and vice versa. Rock and roll music is like the mix of two cultures the black and white country. It broke the barrier between the two races.

Reply:

Rock and roll has had major impacts on society from influencing not only the sound of music, but also things like clothing, and even politics. I think one reason for this is because of how lyrics in a song can tell a story and spread a message in a short amount of time, and how it can easily stick with people. One example from the video that I think is important to look at is how concerts can have an impact on society by raising money and awareness for important causes, such as the Live Aid concert when they held concerts simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. The ability to hold to hold these concerts at the same time, in different locations, brings a unity between more than one country’s people. Also, because they held so many big artists it brings people that like different artists together to promote a message that a larger audience could listen to. I have also noticed this continue to today, where big artists will come together for a concert to promote and raise awareness for a cause, and people want to see their favorite performers and they will listen to what they have to say about an important cause. An example from the video I also think it is also important to look at is the role rock and roll, R & B, and things like “race records” played in breaking down and lowering racial barriers. This is an important impact because as black and white musicians were gaining the attention and support of both black and white audiences, they were beginning to desegregate from each other, being portrayed in a new light that had not been done before. Rock and roll overall impacted society because they were able to unify people through music and promote messages for better social change that it’s listeners resonated with and supported.

SNHU Housing Price Prediction Model for DM Pan National Real Estate Company Paper

Competencies

In this project, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following competencies:

  • Apply statistical techniques to address research problems
  • Perform regression analysis to address an authentic problem

Overview

The purpose of this project is to have you complete all of the steps of a real-world linear regression research project starting with developing a research question, then completing a comprehensive statistical analysis, and ending with summarizing your research conclusions.

Scenario

You have been hired by the D. M. Pan National Real Estate Company to develop a model to predict housing prices for homes sold in 2019. The CEO of D. M. Pan wants to use this information to help their real estate agents better determine the use of square footage as a benchmark for listing prices on homes. Your task is to provide a report predicting the housing prices based square footage. To complete this task, use the provided real estate data set for all U.S. home sales as well as national descriptive statistics and graphs provided.

Directions

Using the Project One Template located in the What to Submit section, generate a report including your tables and graphs to determine if the square footage of a house is a good indicator for what the listing price should be. Reference the National Statistics and Graphs document for national comparisons and the Real Estate Data spreadsheet (both found in the Supporting Materials section) for your statistical analysis.

Note: Present your data in a clearly labeled table and using clearly labeled graphs.

Specifically, include the following in your report:

Introduction

  1. Describe the report: Give a brief description of the purpose of your report.
    1. Define the question your report is trying to answer.
    2. Explain when using linear regression is most appropriate.
      1. When using linear regression, what would you expect the scatterplot to look like?
    3. Explain the difference between response and predictor variables in a linear regression to justify the selection of variables.

Data Collection

  1. Sampling the data: Select a random sample of 50 houses.
    1. Identify your response and predictor variables.
  2. Scatterplot: Create a scatterplot of your response and predictor variables to ensure they are appropriate for developing a linear model.

Data Analysis

  1. Histogram: For your two variables, create histograms.
  2. Summary statistics: For your two variables, create a table to show the mean, median, and standard deviation.
  3. Interpret the graphs and statistics:
    1. Based on your graphs and sample statistics, interpret the center, spread, shape, and any unusual characteristic (outliers, gaps, etc.) for the two variables.
    2. Compare and contrast the shape, center, spread, and any unusual characteristic for your sample of house sales with the national population. Is your sample representative of national housing market sales?

Develop Your Regression Model

  1. Scatterplot: Provide a graph of the scatterplot of the data with a line of best fit.
    1. Explain if a regression model is appropriate to develop based on your scatterplot.
  2. Discuss associations: Based on the scatterplot, discuss the association (direction, strength, form) in the context of your model.
    1. Identify any possible outliers or influential points and discuss their effect on the correlation.
    2. Discuss keeping or removing outlier data points and what impact your decision would have on your model.
  3. Find r: Find the correlation coefficient (r).
    1. Explain how the r value you calculated supports what you noticed in your scatterplot.

Determine the Line of Best Fit. Clearly define your variables. Find and interpret the regression equation. Assess the strength of the model.

  1. Regression equation: Write the regression equation (i.e., line of best fit) and clearly define your variables.
  2. Interpret regression equation: Interpret the slope and intercept in context.
  3. Strength of the equation: Provide and interpret R-squared.
    1. Determine the strength of the linear regression equation you developed.
  4. Use regression equation to make predictions: Use your regression equation to predict how much you should list your home for based on the square footage of your home.

Conclusions

  1. Summarize findings: In one paragraph, summarize your findings in clear and concise plain language for the CEO to understand. Summarize your results.
    1. Did you see the results you expected, or was anything different from your expectations or experiences?
      1. What changes could support different results, or help to solve a different problem?
      2. Provide at least one question that would be interesting for follow-up research.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Virtuous Person Virtuous Citizen Report

I’m working on a other discussion question and need a sample draft to help me understand better.

Introduction
Each person owes a duty to himself or herself and to the world to study ethics and to engage in thoughtful debate about what is right, and what is wrong. It is this habit of thinking about and reflecting on ethics that will help you determine the right choices when faced with an ethical dilemma.

Initial Post Instructions
Articulate a moral dilemma wherein one has to show a specific virtue or virtues (it can be any virtue or virtues including honesty, courage, charity/generosity, compassion, etc.)

  • What is the moral dilemma about?
  • What virtue or virtues should be shown? (You are here selecting the best course of action)
  • Why is that virtue or those virtues to be shown?
  • How should the virtue or virtues be expressed, and why in that manner?
  • Apply Aristotle’s golden mean to the dilemma.
  • Tell us how the dilemma involves conflict moral duties (loyalty to community versus to self, professional versus familial duties, national or personal obligations).

The dilemma must be a situation in which a choice has to be made.

Be sure you told us why your chosen course of action was best.

Follow-Up Post Instructions
Respond to at least one peer. Further the dialogue by providing more information and clarification.

Writing Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 posts (1 initial & 1 follow-up)
  • Minimum of 2 sources cited (assigned readings/online lessons and an outside scholarly source)
  • APA format for in-text citations and list of references

Student Sample:

Hello class,

I have chosen to discuss the moral dilemma that a nurse may face in the field is domestic violence. Whether this be a situation that involve partner domestic violence, child abuse or elder abuse, nurses may face this in their career. The ethical dilemma in this case is that the nurse needs to act with a sense of professionalism when faced with abusers. Nurses and other healthcare professionals cannot act out of anger at the abuser. The virtues that nurses must show in many of these situations is trustworthiness to the patient that is being abused, another virtue a nurse must have is compassion. This is a virtue that all nurses should have, you need feel  compassion for the patients you care for. The virtues should be expressed by making sure your patient knows they can tell you things in confidence and not be worried about it not being confidential and they must know you care.  Aristotle’s golden mean is the mean between two extremes where one end of it is excess and they other is deficiency (Kraut, 2018). This can be applied to this because you do not want to care too much to where you are crossing the boundary between patient and nurse on the other hand you also do not want the patient to think you do not care at all. Trustworthiness can be applied to the golden mean because you don’t want to the patient to think they can’t trust you so you don’t want to be on the deficient end of that. The dilemma involves moral duties to self because you may feel like you want to do more but if the patient doesn’t want that then you must abide by their wishes.

CSU Auctions Difference Between Oral Auctions & Second Price Auctions Essay

Auctions can be an important tool for selling goods and gathering information. Auctions are used in multiple venues including agriculture, eBay, and distressed asset sales. The seller does not have to worry about estimating demand and setting a price because the demanders will do that through the auction process.

Write an essay examining the value of auctions in the economy by addressing the following items.

  • Explain the difference between oral auctions and second-price auctions, including how they work and their results.
  • Use the expected value information to illustrate how having more bidders in an oral auction will likely result in a higher winning bid.
  • Explain how the number of bidders in a common value auction affects the outcome of the auction. Relate this to the effect on price in different market structures based on the number of producers.
  • Auctions lead to outcomes where buyers reveal their value for the products being auctioned. To successfully price discriminate, firms often rely on buyers revealing their value for products. Explain the conditions necessary for firms to be able to price discriminate.

Your essay must be at least three pages in length (not counting the title and references pages) and include at least three peer-reviewed resources. Adhere to APA Style when writing your essay, including citations and references for sources used. Be sure to include an introduction. Please note that no abstract is needed.
