Personality Disorders—Fact or Fiction?

Assignment 2: Personality Disorders—Fact or Fiction?

Personality disorders are chronic and persistent behavioral and emotional disturbances that are often difficult to treat. Some professionals argue that these disorders are not mental disorders at all, but personality styles—that these individuals are just odd or unusual. Review your text book and a minimum of two peer reviewed references and develop an argument for or against the inclusion of personality disorders as a diagnostic category in the next version of the DSM. Be sure to support your position with relevant research on the causation, diagnosis, and treatment of personality disorders.

Develop your position into a 2-3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources and include a cover page and reference page. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M4_A2.doc.

By Wednesday, October 22, 2014, deliver your assignment to the M4: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Project Part 4—Client-Server Authentication

Using the TCP echo server and client discussed in the previous assignment, write client and server programs to implement a simple client-server authentication system. You will be able to implement and test both the client and server programs on a single machine by running them on different ports with the same Internet Protocol (IP) address.

Your program must take care of the following:

  • At the client end, provide a menu such as: If a user selects Register, get the login ID and password from the user and contact the server with the information required for registration. The server maintains a file with a list of client login IDs and associated passwords. The server updates this file with the registration information provided by the new user.
    • Register
    • Authenticate yourself

  • If a user selects Authenticate yourself, get the login ID and password from the user. Send this information to the server for authentication. The server authenticates the user by performing a password lookup and sending a “Client Authenticated” or “Client Not Authenticated” message. This is required to implement the JOIN feature in your distributed library implementation.

Continue with the Microsoft Word document from Project Part 3—Handling Concurrent Clients and add your client and server programs to it. Include client and server window screenshots for successful and unsuccessful authentication attempts.

Grading Criteria:

** Added to the Microsoft Word document the client and server programs, including the client-server authentication program such that at the client-end, a menu displayed the two choices: Register and Authenticate yourself

**  Addressed the user registration requirements in the programs; it included the requirements to update the file with a list of client login IDs and passwords with the registration information provided by the new user.

** Addressed the user authentication requirements in the program, and appropriately sent a “Client Authenticated” or “Client Not Authenticated” message

**  Cited all sources using APA format. Include an abstract, use correct spelling, grammar, and professional vocabulary.

Intro to Health Services Management

Course Project

The Course Project is due in Week 7. You will be preparing a comparative analysis between the U.S. healthcare system and that of another country of your choice. Requirements for the paper include 6–10 pages in length and strict APA formatting. This week, research what country you wish to choose for your Course Project in order to write your comparative analysis of its healthcare system against the United States’. Make sure that you are able to find adequate references for your project (i.e., a minimum of three scholarly or primary source references). Then, in Week 2, you will enter your chosen country’s name into the Week 2 Dropbox for your instructor’s approval. In Week 5, you will be submitting your outline. There are no deliverables this week for the Course Project; however, you will want to begin your research immediately. See the Course Project page under Course Home for more details.

Concept: Creative Destruction

Topic: Iphone

Creative Destruction is the economic process where a new development replaces some prior development. The technological development of the iPhone has impacted various other devices that came before it, such as: cameras, mp3 players, books, maps and etc. With the invention of the iPhone it made other technologies unnecessary because the iPhone can single handedly complete all of the other jobs that the other devices do. Through our research our group is going to be focusing on the effects of creative destruction in the technological economy focusing on the iPhone. We will explain in depth how past technology declines as new technology arrives in the world. While researching, we have found information about creative destruction, technology over the years, as well as statistics. The amount of sales and profits that iPhone has received these past few years, and how the sales for cameras has decreased.

Assignment 2: UML Conceptual View and Process View

Due Week 3 and worth 50 points

You have been asked to develop UML diagrams to graphically depict and describe the architecture of two (2) unrelated software systems. The first system is for an automated ticket-issuing system used by passengers at a railway station. The second system is for a computer-controlled video conferencing system, located in a corporate office and accessible to senior management that allows video, audio, and computer data to be visible to several participants at the same time.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Create two (2) UML diagrams, one (1) showing a conceptual view and one (1) showing a process view of the architectures for each of the two (2) following systems (for a total of four [4] diagrams) through the use of Microsoft Visio or its open source alternative, Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
    1. An automated ticket-issuing system used by passengers at a railway station.
    2. A computer-controlled, video-conferencing system that allows video, audio, and computer data to be visible to several participants at the same time.
  2. Describe how you created the conceptual and process view for all four (4) diagrams. In the description, be sure to provide a justification for each key decision in the design.
  3. Explain how you arrived at your final solution for the four (4) conceptual and process view diagrams that you have created.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

  • Include charts or diagrams created in Visio or an equivalent such as Dia. The completed diagrams / charts must be imported into the Word document before the paper is submitted.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Compare and contrast among architectural patterns.
  • Develop system models based on the Unified Modeling Language (UML) to address and solve a business problem.
  • Describe the methods of object-oriented design using UML.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in software engineering.
  • Write clearly and concisely about software engineering using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.
