Need Help with Biology Paper

Chapter 8 discusses countries with low birth rates. Consider the population situation in Italy or Germany; very low birth rates, the OPPOSITE of what China faces. Conduct research on the causes of low total fertility rates in developed countries, and what dangers this poses for the future of these countries. Then, based on your research, choose some policies that you would recommend to countries to help achieve a sustainable society.

Write a 1 to 2 page paper responding to the following:

  • What are the reasons behind the low rates?
  • What policies would you recommend to a country that has a low birth rate (and therefore a declining population) that wants to increase its population growth and birth rate? Discuss at least 2 policies and make sure your policies encompass ideas that would help increase birth rates, population rates, and economic sustainability.

Please make sure all of your assignments:

  • Are written in paragraph form.
  • Are double-spaced.

Finish my 10 page paper

Purpose:

This essay asks you to demonstrate the usual essay-writing skills, but further, it asks also that you demonstrate your mastery of library and Internet research skills and of careful, thorough documentation. It offers you the chance to read widely and deeply on a particular subject; to think insightfully about a topic; and to use the voices of others to help you to support your own argument. With this assignment, you will work within the world of academic research, which will undergird much of the other work you do in college.

Discussion:

For this assignment, you will see what other literary critics are saying about your chosen author’s work, and you will add your voice to that conversation. This reading will suggest alternative views of and, ultimately, will deepen your understanding of the writer’s work and of the characters and issues within it. Then, incorporating other voices into your essay will provide support as you explain your own interpretation.

Make your essay’s focus the significance of your chosen subject. Think about the importance of what occurs in the plot–the importance of characters’ decisions and actions, the characters’ motives, and the outcomes. Consider what you see as the significance of these examples. What do they reveal to us? Might we learn anything from them, or benefit from them in any way? Of course, the story will appeal to our imagination or our sense of curiosity. But, beyond this, what does it, consciously or unconsciously, express? In what ways does it work to shape our attitudes and perceptions about life? To shape or mold our collective values? Analyze the way that a story presents its point of view about a theme or question at its plot’s center.

Assignment

  • Task: Choose one of the options listed at the end of this document and compose an analytical, research-supported essay.

  • Ancillary Files

As part of your completion of the larger writing assignment, you will also be writing a prospectus for your essay, as well as giving a presentation on your research.

  • Technical Requirements:

  • Sources: Use a minimum of six credible sources. At least two of your six sources must be academic. Use reliable, credible sources (see below).

  • Works Cited: An annotated Works Cited page is required.

  • Length: Ten to fourteen (10-14) pages, typed and double-spaced (excluding the Works Cited and/or any images, graphics, etc.)

  • Format: Modern Language Association (MLA)

Submission:

  • Submit the essay through Blackboard before submitting a print copy in class.

  • Include a Grading Rubric when you submit the essay in class.

Research Points

Compose an argumentative paper that uses research to support its argument.

  • Develop a claim about your subject and support this claim, and your explanation of reasoning, with research.

  • This paper is not to be a regurgitation of the available research (easily accomplishable by copy-and-paste but contributing nothing to your development of your claim).

Use reliable, credible sources.

  • Prioritize sites with .edu domains (instead of .com or even .org or .gov domains).

  • Use research journals with the word “academic” or “university” in the title.

  • Do not use Wikipedia, About.com, Spark Notes, or other such websites as sources.

  • Do not use encyclopedias and dictionaries as sources.

  • Apply the CRAAP test.

Annotate your Works Cited. An annotated Works Cited is useful in two ways.

  • It allows you to keep track of your research. Second,

  • It allows you to demonstrate the depth of your research.

Follow MLA guidelines,

  • for your page format,

  • for your in-paragraph source citations, and

  • for your Works Cited. (No, the works cited page does not count toward the essay’s minimum number of pages).

Options for Writing

  • Examine a significant issue that Macbeth explores, perhaps related to deception, desire, evil, influence, misplaced confidence, temptation, or unintended consequences. Analyze the point of view that the play expresses about a dominant idea and the way(s) by which the play expresses it (its characterization, its contrasts and parallels, its imagery,…).

  • Read three works (books, plays, short stories,…) written by an author and write an essay analyzing this writer’s style. What stylistic features (such as a particular kind of irony or a certain type of symbolism) and characterization features (such as a particular point of view on human nature or a certain point of view on a particular issue) mark a style unique to the author? Note that this is not a biographical assignment. The facts of Jane Austen’s or of Edgar Allan Poe’s life matter far less than the use of particular types of irony or of the macabre in the author’s work. Concentrate on the characteristics that let you know that you are reading Austen or Poe.

  • Examine the use of witches, ghosts, superstition, or other other-worldly subject in a particular work (Macbeth, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Doctor Who,…) or in a two-works comparison and contrast essay. In what ways does the other-worldly contribute to the story’s expression of its point of view on one of its significant issues or to its point of view (positive, cynical, pessimistic,…) on human nature? Note that this is not a historical assignment about an overview of witchcraft or of attitudes to witches. Analyze the function or the portrayal of witches in one or two specific texts. (Ex. address the psychological insights Terry Pratchett achieves through his Discworld; Ex. address what Twilight reveals about cultural thoughts about romance or male-female relations)

  • An analysis of a specific character in a particular work (Ex. addressing the idea of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind or of Nancy Drew in the Nancy Drew series as a feminist character; Ex. addressing the appeal of Harry Potter as a hero for young—or for older—readers)

  • A comparison and contrast of two similar characters in two authors’ works

  • Analyze the way that a children’s book uses rhetorical devices and language to teach children about morals and values while at the same time appealing to the inquisitive nature of a child and his/her imagination. Think about children’s literature as something that shapes attitudes and perceptions about life and what it means to be “normal.” Make an analytical argument about how a single piece of children’s literature shapes or molds children’s collective values, and creates a certain perception of the world, all while appealing to their sense of curiosity and imagination.

  • An analysis of a specific image functioning in a single or occurring in several works (Example: what symbols, such as windows and doors, represent in Wuthering Heights; Ex. the use of moon imagery in certain plays, poems, novels)

  • A study of a particular writer’s use of a specific genre’s literary techniques (e.g., rhyme in sonnets, soliloquy in drama, metaphor in …)

  • An analysis of theme within a particular work or of a repetitive, common theme within a particular writer’s works (Ex. religious themes or symbols in Annie Dillard’s works; Ex. guilt and damnation in Kafka’s stories; Ex. the Irish nationalism of William Butler Yeats)

  • An analysis of the function of setting in a particular work or in a particular writer’s works, such as an analysis of its impact on the characters and/or plot

  • An analysis of the use of symbolism, satire, allegory, metaphor, or other technique in a particular work or in a particular writer’s works

  • Analyze a writer’s use of a specific genre’s literary techniques

  • Analyze an author’s use of humor or of tragedy throughout his/her works

  • A “deconstruction” of a particular work or a reading of a work based on an outside philosophical perspective or political perspective (Ex. unfolding an underlying racist worldview in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness; Ex. performing a Freudian read of Hamlet or a Marxist read William Blake’s “London”) (See  the OWL’s excellent pages on “Writing in Fiction”:https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/4/17/.)

  • Reasons for or against the inclusion or exclusion of a particular work in a literature or a composition class.

  • Address how a particular series by one author develops, changes, maintains common symbols or metaphors, etc.

  • A comparison and contrast of a particular writer’s early works with later ones

  • A comparison and contrast of an adaptation of a work (e.g., movie, video game, comic book, TV program) with the original (Ex. comparing G.B. Shaw’s Pygmalion with the original Greek myth of Pygmalion) Note that this is a comparison and contrast essay. Find points of both similarity and difference.

Return on Investment – Education Funding

Develop a three- to five-page analysis (excluding the title and reference pages) on the projected return on investment for your college education and projected future employment. This analysis will consist of two parts.

Part 1: Describe how and why you made the decision to pursue an MBA. In the description, include calculations of expenses and opportunity costs related to that decision.

Part 2: Analyze your desired occupation. Determine how much compensation (return) you expect to earn and how long will it take to pay back the return on this investment. Use the financial formulas, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback, provided in Chapters 3 and 4 of your text.

The analysis should be comprehensive and reference specific examples from a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to your text. The paper must be formatted according to APA.

6 page argumentative essay

Research Paper Requirements

For this paper you will be writing an argumentative essay on a particular social or

Political issue. The final research paper will be due at the end of the semester, however

you will also have to complete an annotated bibliography assignment leading up to the

final research paper.

What is a position paper? What I would like for you to do with your research paper is to argue

a particular position, supported by research, on a current domestic or foreign policy debate.

A position paper basically has six parts to it:

1. An introduction – This first paragraph should include a lead in and thesis statement and

clearly present the main idea of your position paper. Many writers prefer to place the

thesis at the end of the first paragraph, but this doesn’t have to be the case.

2. Formulate a “Literature Review” that describes/discusses the main contentions

surrounding the domestic or foreign policy issue that you are investigating. Explain to

the reader what the main arguments are surrounding this policy debate. Make clear what

groups are on either side of the debate and what actions they have taken to argue their

side. Give details about any laws or policies that have been passed or that may be

coming up for a vote or judicial decision.

3. Now explain your view. Tell the reader why you’re taking the position you’ve chosen and

offer evidence supporting your opinion. Be sure to present the information in a logical

order and avoid making any statements that lack obvious support. Make them understand

why you think the way you do.

4. Present a counter-argument. Pick a problem that someone against your views would

bring up. Make sure you present it clearly and give the reasoning behind the counterargument

as well. Researching opposing position papers and viewpoints can help make

this step easier.

5. Declare a resolution to the problem. Take a paragraph to explain why the counterargument

doesn’t apply and reaffirm your view. Describe why the counter-argument

doesn’t hold up and why your ideas are better.

6. End with a conclusion paragraph. In a conclusion paragraph, you should restate your

thesis and summarize the position paper’s main ideas. Be sure to rewrite your ideas so

that you’re not just repeating the exact same thing. Once again, restate your position.

You can choose from one of the contemporary policy debates below:

Gun Control

Abortion

Creationism vs. Evolution

Immigration

Gay Marriage

U.S. Torture

Capital Punishment

California State Issues

Research Paper Requirements:

 Your paper must use at least 6 bibliographic sources to include at least one of

each of the following: periodicals (magazines or journals); books (scholarly);

primary documents; Internet sources (scholarly). Web resources must be from

legitimate sources, if in doubt ask me first.

 Your citations should be in APA format. You can find information on how to

complete an APA “Reference List” (or “In-Text” citations) at:

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/. Another useful website for these purposes is:

www.dianahacker.com/resdoc. Both of these websites offer extensive

information on how to cite different source materials in proper APA style. Bottom

line, it is crucial that you are citing information accurately and ethically. If you are

unsure or need assistance with citation standards, please feel free to contact me

or refer to the “Portal Site” associated with this class where I have additionally

provided APA tutorial documents that will assist you with both “In-Text” and

“Reference List” mechanics.

 Your paper must be at least 6-7 pages in length, using 12 point Times New

Roman font, double-spaced, written in APA format, and free from grammatical

errors.

Mapping Strategic Goals

We’ve learned how big of an advantage that technology can be in
today’s business environment. Every major strategic management goal will
make use of multiple types of technology during implementation. In this
assignment, you will need to create a presentation for the upper
management at your chosen course project business. The presentation will
focus on suggesting two pieces of technology that you feel are
essential to the implementation of your chosen strategic management
goal. This presentation will be in PowerPoint and requires the recording
of audio. Below is a detailed breakdown of what should be included in
the presentation. Remember that presentations need to engage the
audience through visual and auditory means. Use PowerPoint’s features to
accomplish this.

  • Create a title slide.
  • Summarize the goal you are trying to accomplish and the value it will bring to the business.
  • Identify two pieces of technology that you believe are essential to you accomplishing your chosen strategic management goal.
    • What are the strengths and weaknesses of each technology?
    • Why is each of these pieces of technology important to the implementation and execution of your chosen goal?
  • Provide research that supports your technology choices.
    • Cite a minimum of 1 scholarly source.
      • Include a final APA works cited slide.
  • Format the presentation so that it’s engaging and employs
advanced formatting features such as templates, transitions, charts, or
    video.
  • Use the “Audio” feature under the “Insert” tab in PowerPoint to record the audio for the presentation.
    • It’s important to be informative while still being persuasive.
Focus on explaining the use of the technology and the value that the
technology will bring to the business if used correctly.

The stage is set for your strategic goal to become a reality. Before
that can happen, you’ll need to think through and map out the tasks
within the project. This assignment will focus on planning out the
individual aspects of the project using the project management tools
that you’ve previously learned. You will be able to use Word or Excel
for this assignment. (Choose whichever you’re more familiar with.) It’s
important to think through the goal you’re trying to accomplish and how
you’ll reach it. The more detailed you can be with your tasks, the
smoother the project management cycle will go. Your submission this week
should accomplish the following:

  • Create a basic chart that lists out at least 8 tasks required to
complete your chosen strategic management goal and estimates on how
long each will take to complete.
  • Create a Gantt chart using the tasks listed in the previous chart.
  • Create a network diagram using the tasks listed out in the previous chart.
  • Analyze your created Gantt chart and network diagram. Identify
two potential issues that may be a cause for concern when the project
    gets underway.
  • APA format
