Initiate a conversation among the members of your Collaborative Learning Community regarding potential topics of interest. This should be a health issue with national and international relevance that will be the basis for your ongoing project. It may be helpful to identify a number of topics of interest and have individual group members do a quick survey of the literature to be sure that current information is available.
Refer to “CLC Health Issue Analysis Overview.” (ATTACHED)
Revise “CLC Group Project Agreement” to include the choice of the identified topic in the title and resubmit the agreement.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected. (A brief paragraph is sufficient to identify the health issue for the group’s analysis.)
You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.
This is the writing from other team mates. just attaching it to give you an idea.
Here is my quick little blurb about the importance of the opioid epidemic as a topic choice. I think if we all write a little blurb about the topic choice, it can all be combined into a paragraph for the assignment for this week.
The opioid epidemic continues to be on a health concern and topic that has become a nationwide issue. Many factors contribute to the misuse of opioids and these particular factors can interfere with the process of eliminating this epidemic. Pain control is being managed with prescriptions for opioids instead of using alternative methods to treating pain. Due to the increase in number of prescriptions being written for opioids, at least 130 people a day are dying from overdoses related to opioid misuse (What is the U.S. Opioid Epidemic? 2018).

Here is my little blurb as well
Each day, there are more than 115 people in the United States (U.S.) that die from overdosing on opioids. The misuse of opioids, including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, is a grave national predicament that is a distress to the public as well as social and economic welfare. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calculates that the total “economic burden” of prescription opioid misuse alone in the United States is $78.5 billion a year, including the costs of healthcare, lost productivity, addiction treatment, and criminal justice involvement (NIH, 2018).
