Each student enrolled in this course will complete the required State-mandated, core curriculum assessment. The assessment should be written in a professional, size 12 font, double-spaced, and include in-text citations and a corresponding reference page. The assessment for this course evaluates the following core objectives: Core Objectives:1.Critical Thinking Skills: The ability to think creatively, innovatively inquire, and analyze, evaluate and/or synthesize information. 2.Written and Visual Communication Skills: The ability to effectively develop, interpret and express ideas through written, oral and/or visual communication. 3.Social Responsibility: The ability to demonstrate intercultural competence, knowledge of civic responsibility, and/or the ability to engage effectively in regional, national, and global communities.General Style and Basic RulesEssays should be between 800-1,200 words in length. Essays should be written from the sociological perspective.The sociological perspective uses formal, broad, analytical language. The third-person voice should be used for the first 3 sections (Background, Theoretical Perspective, and Sociologica lAnalysis) of the paper. Only the 4thsection (Social Commentary) of the paper may be written from the first-person perspective.Essays should be organized using subheadings to guide the reader. Essays should be double-spaced, unless your instructor states otherwise. Essays should be written in a professional (e.g. Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri), size 12 font. A minimum of five (5) in-text citations are required for this essay, with a corresponding reference page.
