Assessment Description
Develop an event brief to be pitched to a local council for an event you wish to organise; to be held in the local community or local suburb.
You need the council to accept your brief in order to fund the event. The funding agreement is your local council has agreed to fund the event, up to $100,000, provided you can raise an additional 15% of the funds through other external parties. e.g. donations, raffles, sponsorship, entry fees, food/beverage stalls, etc.
Students will need to consider the event’s history-if any, the planning process, and identify the key elements of event operations and how each item interacts to create the final event.
Students are also expected to identify the contributions made to the community by the event and who their target market will be.
Requirements: Read the appropriate journals and research material around this topic and
consult your text book to develop your framework.
Use the appropriate/corresponding theory, and your workshops, as a foundation
to develop the brief.
In particular, you need to consult the following content areas in helping you in shaping your assessment; events as designed experiences, the event experience realm (see Figure 3.6), the role of the sensory experience, event staging and logistics requirements, etc.
Fundamentally, your report should be driven by the event attendee’s experience (the ‘3Es’ of event marketing).
Finally, be realistic with your estimates, forecasts, and projections.
Your report should be designed to enhance, supplement, and support your presentation.

Body of Report: Issues/questions/topics/perspectives to consider and evaluate in this section
may include:

Justification for the event => history, purpose, motivation, context, etc.
Benefits to the local community.
Details of the event => Where is the event taking place? When is it taking place? Projected attendance numbers? etc.
Event objectives.
Client/customer needs.
