USE ANNOTATED BIB
This is an outline of the research already conducted on your intended topic. Your literature review will outline both the relevant decisions of the US Supreme Court surrounding your topic and also detail what legal commentators have written about these decisions and their strengths and weaknesses. You should summarize each authors main findings and relate these findings to your research program. The literature review should answer the question of what do we know on this topic and how did we come to this knowledge. The literature review also sites where your research will fill in a gap in our knowledge of this subject. The literature review must be concise, correct, and thorough. Please note that writing a good literature review takes a significant amount of time and a number of rewrites! A literature review is NOT simply a relisting of your annotated bibliography in narrative form! Instead it should allow all of your source material to talk to each other. You should lead your reader to understand the clear lines in the argument and where each source is properly situated among those lines. Your review needs to be eight to ten pages, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, and 12-point font. I will provide an example of a good professional literature review in the beginning of the semester via the courses Blackboard page.
