You are to choose a single image contained in a chicano mural (it would be better if it was in san fernando valley or one of Cesar Chaves’s images) and explain to the reader how the image goes well beyond the physical depiction. (You don’t need to explain an entire mural!) For example there is an image of grapes, but some of the grapes are skulls. Is this intended to simply be a scary picture, or is there something more? Is it merely a coincidence that this image shares space with images Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers?
Compose a 3-4 page essay explaining your image using the criteria above. If possible, please include a photo of your image. Provide an appropriate Works Cited page for outside information discovered. (These may include personal interviews and youtube videos.) Wikipedia will be accepted as a resource for this project.
