First– Multiple Intelligence survey: (attached below)Multiple IntelligencesLearning more about the multiple intelligences can help you better understand your own strengths. Complete the assessment by first, clicking to access the survey form (print it out if you’d like). You will share and discuss your results, as well as your impressions of the assessment in the discussion area for this module. There are a total of ten sections, each with eight statements. For each of the statements, you write down a number from 0-4:4 – this applies to me completely3 – this applies to me strongly2 – this applies to me somewhat1 – this hardly applies to me0 – this does not apply to me at allThen click to access the scoring form. Fill in the table and compute the totals for each of the eight categories (A-H). This will give you your comfort levels for each of the intelligence.Second– Discussion:Complete both the learning styles assessments: Learning Styles (Visual, Auditory, and/or Kinesthetic) and Multiple Intelligences Tool in this module prior to discussion participation.Report out on the results of BOTH of your learning tool assessment scoresShare an example of a past learning experience or event (something you learned at home, at work, as a child, etc.) that illustrates or justifies the results of how you scored on those two assessments.Be specific, explain how your learning style preferences impacted the event or experience? Refer to our readings in your analysis.Discussion Participation TipsYour initial post should be a reflective response that answers all questions, is adequately detailed, and cites outside sources when necessary to support your post. Typically, a post should be at least 300 words to allow you to answer and ask follow-up questions, provide supplemental information, and share views and experiences that draw us into an in-depth and meaningful conversation. Your first response should be posted by midweek and then you should return to respond to at least two other students during the remaining week(s) of the module. Be sure to use APA format to cite sources when putting forth the ideas, opinions, and facts of others. Refer to the Discussion Rubric to understand how you will be graded.EXTRA INFO TO REFERRED TO:The term learning styles is widely used to describe how learners gather, sift through, interpret, organize, come to conclusions about, and “store” information for further use. Complete the assessment below to determine how your learning style is categorized by the following sensory approaches: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. You will share and discuss your results, as well as your impressions of the assessment in the discussion area for this module.Sensory PreferencesComplete the assessment below. Answer the ten questions below by choosing a response that feels the most comfortable for you. Write down your responses on a separate sheet of paper for easy reference.1) When I watch a television show, I most rememberthe costumes, scenery, and the actors/actresseswhat the characters say to each otherthe action in the show or how it makes me feel2) When I am alone, I like toread or watch televisiontalk on the telephoneplay a game or go outside and play3) If I buy my own clothes, I usually buylight-colored clothing in popular stylesbright colored clothingvery comfortable clothing4) When I remember previous vacations, I rememberthe way places lookedthe sounds and the conversations I had therethe way it felt to be there and the activities5) My favorite way to learn something is tohave someone show me a picture or see it in a bookhave someone tell me how to do itdo it myself6) When I study, I liketo have soft music playing and lots of lightto have absolute silence and sometimes read aloudto be really comfortable, like on a bed or a couch7) My favorite kind of class is when the teacheruses the overhead or chalkboard a lot and I can copy down the informationtells us the information and I can just listenlets us try to do the stuff ourselves8) When I spell a word, Ipicture the word in my headsound out the letterswrite it down and see if it feels right9) Ithink talking on the phone is okay, but I’d rather see people to talk to themlove to talk on the phonewould rather be out doing something than talk on the phone10) The most uncomfortable situation for me would beto not be able to watch television or readto not be able to talkto not be able to move aroundTo determine your sensory preference, count up the number of A, B, and C responses. If you have mostly As you prefer visual perception. If you have mostly Bs, you prefer auditory perception. If you have mostly Cs, you prefer kinesthetic perception.EXTRA:Our course is a presentation of differing learning styles (the ways we sensorially take in and process information). Read the article entitled Learning styles: Concepts and evidence. It lays a foundation in understanding each learner’s individual learning style and therefore their learning needs. It is a celebration of learning differences. All of us have different learning styles, and we learn at different paces. Some of us can put in a minimal effort and receive a high grade, meanwhile, others have to work very hard to achieve an average grade. We can modify the learning activities and we can modify the methods we use to learn. View the video entitled Changing Education Paradigms (2010 video, 11 minutes in length, transcript1) as it explains how we maximize our opportunities for our personal learning needs to be met, we can enhance and ensure that we are more comfortable in our learning environment. One method of doing so is applying the theories of Multiple Intelligence to our learning styles.Howard Gardner identified eight ways of considering intelligence:Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence,Logical-Mathematical Intelligence,Spatial Intelligence,Musical Intelligence,Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence,Interpersonal Intelligence,Intrapersonal Intelligence, andNaturalistic Intelligence.Let’s connect with the readings and discussion prompts to explore what the information above means for you!1 This transcript is of copyrighted material.
