It should be about 8 pages long (double-spaced,12-point font, MLA format). Concentrate on creating a real argument, not just listing observations about the works (I should be able to disagree with your paper, while still thinking it’s good work). Don’t forget to end your opening paragraph with a question and answer that question in the conclusion.

Use these two works that ENGAGE with and ANSWER the question of happiness: what it is, why it is important to the individual or to society, etc. Which work do you think offered up the best definition of happiness, or the best case for its social/personal importance? The worst?Which author was most concerned with happiness? Least? Do you think a literary work should even bother setting out a theory of happiness, or is that up to each individual to figure out for themselves?
