Go to the link (above).  Scroll down on the page and you will see white boxes (i.e. Clinical trials, Aducanumab Approved for Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, Earlier Diagnosis, Treatment Horizons, Can Alzheimer’s Disease be prevented, brain donation) which relate to Alzheimer’s Research.  Health And Aging.

Choose one (NOTE:  be sure to check the discussion page first, only 2 people per topic.  If there are 3 postings on the topic you may not report on that topic, you must choose a different one…first come, first served) topic, view the information and present the information that you learned in your discussion post.

Do some additional research on your topic and include at least one peer reviewed citation in your response.

Part 2

The psycho-social aspects of aging are very diverse.  Choose one aspect of psycho-social aging, and create and present a 6-10 slide (PowerPoint) presentation about your topic and be sure to include a description of the psycho-social topic, incidence, how it is recognized (assessment), and characteristics of the people that are affected by the issue/topic.

Your presentation should be narrated and can include a short video clip if you wish. Be creative. Be sure to address every question in your presentation and cite professional peer-reviewed articles.

NOTE:

  •  Your topic choice cannot be one of the topics we are covering in the other modules of this course.
  • It cannot be a topic that another of your classmates has already posted (you can claim a topic by posting the topic in the discussion forum stating that you have chosen this topic).  If someone else has already chosen that topic you will need to choose something else to post about.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
