i am writing my common app essay for college admissions. my question is “some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.” i want to write about my ethnicity. i was born in brazil (my mom is from brazil with a Italian and Native American background) but my dad is from indian (from Agra). my mom and dad met in paraguay through mutual friends. i grew up with mixed cultures in my house from listening to bollywood to funk music; from celebrating Hindu holidays to Christian holidays. it created my ideals and allowed to connect with so many cultures. i then moved to the US at age 10, further emerging myself in different cultures. however, the move was made extra difficult due to the myriad of ethnicities in my life.
