The multiple-choice test will be based on film viewing, readings and lectures. The emphasis is on broad patterns: early technological innovations, exhibition history, early innovators, and the features, rise and fall of significant film figures and movements. There are a lot of names and dates in the textbook and the idea is not to test memory. However, a multiple-choice test does have to balance general information with specific details, so you should at least be familiar with the directors and year of films screened in class (on the course outline). Historical trends covered in the lecture and mentioned in the textbook are especially important. Use the course topic and lecture outline as a guide and follow up with the textbook reading. Note: keep up with the reading on a weekly basis and review it before the test. Do not expect to read everything for the first time just before the test. There will be 70 questions on the test that include: true or false; a statement followed with 4 false statements and 1 true one, requiring you to pick the 1 true one; and a statement followed by 4 true statements and 1 false one, requiring you to pick the one false one. Be sure to read the questions carefully and be well rested before the test.

will be on date 1 dec
