Based on your research and this week’s readings, including Exhibit 9.1, write a paper that includes the following:

  • Analyze and evaluate the following scenario: Imagine you are the V.P. of Marketing and Sales for an American MNC in the China.  What problems would you foresee in bridging the gap between the U.S. and Chinese cultures? 
  • Choose a leader of a successful global firm and research his/her leadership style and major characteristics. Does your selected leader embody the characteristics found in your definition, from your research, of a global leader in the global marketplace? Explain any differences you may find.
  • Analyze and evaluate the following statement: “All too often cultures are insufficiently studied or wrongly interpreted by newly entering outsiders. It might seem that responsiveness to cultural differences should be second nature to marketers and therefore virtually reflexive.”  Do you agree?  Provide your evaluative perspective, in detail, to this statement.
  • Why has trust in business dropped in developed countries, but remains high in countries like China and India?
  • Do you agree, or disagree, with Milton Friedman’s contention that the only responsibility of a global business is “to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game?”

Support your paper with at least seven (7) resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included. Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
