BELOW IS THE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
The reflection paper will challenge you to take what we learn about happiness, purpose, and well-being during the first week of class and think about how this applies in your daily life and the daily lives of those around you. Happiness looks different for everyone, and we want you to think about how these different ideas about happiness relate (or don’t) to each other and to the science we’ve presented in class.
For this reflection, you are tasked with “interviewing” 3-5 people about what happiness means to them. You can get as creative as you’d like with this interview, coming up with whatever questions you think are relevant to get to the root of the topic.
Your final submission should include 2 items:
Page one
A list of any questions you asked your interviewees (bullet is fine), and a short summary of why you chose these questions. (No minimum/max length, submit single-spaced)
Page Two
An analysis of the responses (including your own). Think about how the answers compare or differ, what responses you found interesting or surprising, and how different responses relate to material we’ve covered in class so far. Why are these observations important and how can they inform the ways in which we study happiness and well-being? This section should be 1 full page, single-spaced (Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1-inch margins).
