Introduce myself

Read this short Netiquette Article (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and the directions below and then complete this week’s assignment. You’ll see that the goal is to introduce yourself. For our first forum, a more casual tone is appropriate, I think. 🙂 Your post and reply are due by Monday 6/10 at 11:59pm. Welcome!

Part 1 (Your Post): Introduce yourself in 4 paragraphs following the outline below. (Click on the reply right below these instructions to add a post.)

Paragraph 1:Introduce yourself, tell us your preferred pronouns (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., and tell us about something you are good at or deeply enjoy. How did you learn this? How long have you been doing this? Why do you think you are good at it or enjoy it so much? Then tell a little bit more about yourself: Do you have any other hobbies or activities that you do on a regular basis? Are you working part-time or full-time? Do you have any kids? What’s your dominant personality trait? Etc. Remember: This should be a paragraph long.

Paragraph 2: CHOOSE ONE: Describe a class you’ve had that you really loved. What made it so great? ORDescribe a class you’ve had that you hated: what made it so terrible. Remember: This should be a paragraph long.

Paragraph 3: Tell us about your motivation for being in college. What do you plan to do with your education? Is there one person who is your inspiration or driving force? What’s your major? Why does your education matter to you? Remember: This should be a paragraph long.

Paragraph 4: What made you decide to take this class this summer online? (I know it’s a required course, but why this class, why Cañada?). Tell us about your experience with online classes and any concerns, questions, hopes, fears you have as we start out. Remember: This should be a paragraph long.

Part 2 (Your Response): Read the person’s post right before yours OR one that has no replies. Write a thoughtful 1-2 paragraph response to what they have said. (Click on reply inside their post so that your response goes directly to them)

Here are some questions to help you formulate a thoughtful response: Can you relate to anything they wrote? How does your experience compare to theirs? Are you curious to know more about anything they wrote? What did you find more interesting from their post and why was it interesting to you? Was anything surprising or amusing? What inferences can you make about the writer based on their post? (Ex: Based on what you wrote about ….I conclude that you are….)
