Rita recently got divorced from chad and was granted custody of Michael their ten year old son. Chad constantly threatens Rita and the court issued a restraining order against him. Chad constantly violates the restraining order casing Rita to fear for her and her son. On the 10th of September 2021, Michael watched his dad sneak into the house, but before he could reach his mother, Michael ran for the gun and pulled the trigger fatally shooting his father. If the court determines that the shooting was in self-defense, Michael goes free. However, if it is determined thst there was no threat to Michael or his mother’s life, Michael risks a sentence of 10-20 years in prison. WRITE A BRIEF PERSUADING THE PROSECUTOR TO AGREE THAT MICHAEL ACTED IN SELF DEFESE.
