The 7 Elements of Design Scavenger Hunt

For this discussion forum, you will need to show an example of each of the 7 Elements of Design. You must find these examples in the course textbook.

When you find a good example of one of The 7 Elements, take a screen shot of just that image (not the entire screen).

If you are not certain how to take a screenshot-or how to select only part of the screen-view the short videos below for the step-by-step method to capture an image and insert it into your discussion post.

If you’re working from a PC save the screen shot to your computer as a JPEG or PNG image file. If you’re working on a Mac, the screenshot will automatically be saved to your desktop as a PNG.

Then, insert the image file into your discussion post. Repeat this for each example. You will need to include a total of 7 images (one image for each of the 7 Elements).

Make sure you clearly label the images in your post so that everyone knows what you’re trying to depict.

If you haven’t inserted images into a discussion post before, the videos (below) explain how to insert your images.

If you’re not sure if you have a Windows (PC) or Mac computer, check the brand name on it. If you have a laptop, you’ll find it on the lid. If you have a desktop, you’ll find it on the front or back of the tower. If you see the Apple logo, then you have a Mac. If you see a different brand – such as Lenovo, HP, Acer, Dell, Alienware, etc. – then you have a Windows computer (PC).

For this first module, your initial post is due Thursday.

For your reply, comment on at least one (1) image in at least one (1) of your classmates’ posts.

Be sure to give constructive and specific criticism. For example, you could write something like, “That second shape’s image has amazing color, but it looks more like an example of line,” or, “Your texture image has a cool pattern in it. Hmm, it makes me wonder if an image can have texture and pattern. What do you think?”

Your reply posts are due on Saturday.

Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.
