Purpose Please use what you developed in your brainstorm and text-set assignment

PurposePlease use what you developed in your brainstorm and text-set assignment to develop an “ugly” draft of Essay #1. Good writers know that they must write and rewrite a lot, resulting in multiple drafts of a text. However, many writers find it hard to write that first draft. By reading the below texts, you will learn about how to get started, and why it is important to just start and not worry about perfection at this stage in the writing process.InstructionsRead and annotate the section of your textbook on “ugly” drafts. You only need to read the first page (do not click next). Click here to read “ugly” first drafts andRead and annotate Anne Lamott’s article “Shitty First Drafts.” Click here to read “Shitty First Drafts”If needed, revisit the essay prompt to remind yourself what your purpose in writing this essay is.Write an ugly/shitty (or better!) first draft of your essay and submit it here. Your draft must be a minimum of 700 words to receive credit for this assignment. Please submit it here to this assignment.Remember to post your thesis statement to Assignment 2.11 per the instructions on Assignment 2.9 in order to get feedback from both me and your peers. It is important that you post your thesis statement on time in order to get feedback before the final paper is due. Even if you can’t post your thesis on time, please remember to provide feedback to others. Providing feedback to your peers on their work helps them by giving them suggestions and ideas to think about, but even more importantly, the act of providing feedback to others helps us improve our own writing because it helps us practice the skills we need to assess and interrogate our own work so that we can revise it and make it better. It can also help us by giving us examples of arguments, ways to structure arguments, ways to use different rhetorical strategies, and different styles of writing – all of which helps us learn more about writing and rhetoric!Important NotePlease note that with a true ugly draft, no one sees it – it is for you. I am asking you to submit it this time, but typically, this is the draft you do before the draft you submit. I am including this note so that you understand that I understand that this may not be your refined, best work yet, so it’s okay if it is messy!Too often students don’t turn in work because it isn’t “perfect” yet, and this can lead to getting behind, or even not ever finishing. It is form of self-sabotage that usually comes from a place of fear. These assignments are designed to get you in the habit of using different strategies and tools to develop your writing so that you can utilize a good writing process for all of your assignments, and my feedback on these assignments will be more like “feed-forward” in the sense that I will help guide you and get you to ask your own questions about how to develop your work. This means that I expect this work to be less than perfect – in fact, “perfect” should not be our goal, but rather growth, consistency, and effectiveness of your writing process to produce quality, college-level writing. In other words, please avoid falling into self-sabotage by over-worrying about something being “perfect.” Just get it done!Link to full essay instructions***To view the full essay assignment and instructions, please see Assignment 2.12
