In the meantime Wal-Mart plainclothes security officer, Gary Guard spotted Louie and figured he was up to no good. Gary stopped Louie and brought him into the security office, called the police. The police gave Louie an appearance ticket for the charge. Louie began to walk home. Somewhat shaken by his brush with the law, he decided that he needed a drink to take the edge off of his nerves.Since his encounter with Gary and the police had lasted a long time it was rather late. Louie walked by Knockem Stiff Liquor Store which was closed and his thirst began to get the better of him. Louie picked up a rusty coat hanger that was lying on the ground and inserted it into the lock on the Liquor store’s door. Louie worked on the door for a while without success until he saw a marked police car approaching. Leaving the hanger in the lock, Louie took off. After running a few blocks Louie became winded and even thirstier. With a great thirst and no money Louie walked along the street until he spotted Harriet Hag, age 90. Harriet was filling her cars’ gas tank at the Last Chance Gas Station. While pumping the gas Harriet held her purse under her arm. Louie came up behind Harriet and lifted the purse from her shoulder without force and ran away.Unable to find an open bar, Louie took the purse to the Heartburn House, an all night diner with a liquor license. In the purse was a VISA card, $300 cash, 5 of Harriet’s personal checks and a 14-carat diamond ring worth $4,000. Louie threw the purse away and kept these items. Louie ordered a cheeseburger and a bottle of Keystone Light Beer. While waiting for his food and drink, Louie had a chance encounter with Sammy Sleaze and Dan Dirtball, two men that he knew from when he had been in jail before. Sammy’s girlfriend Clara Clueless has been trying to get Sammy to marry her for the longest time for reasons unknown. While talking with Sammy, Louie took out the 14-carat diamond ring and sold it to Sammy for $20. Dan and Sammy ordered cheeseburgers and Keystone Light also. After eating all three walked out of the diner without paying.Sammy went off to give Clara his bargain basement diamond ring. Dan and Louie walked down the street together. In need of more money, Louie and Dan walked down the street together until they saw Mickey Motorist driving a 2016 Lexus. They hitched a ride from Mickey who did not know either one of them. After riding for a few minutes Mickey pulled over at the Nearly Last Chance Gas Station saying that he would be right out since he needed to use the men’s room. Mickey had inadvertently left the key in the ignition. While Mickey was in the store, Dan said, “Get the wheels!” Louie got in the drivers seat and they peeled out of the parking lot and took off. They pulled up to Ronnie Rich’s house. Louie climbed in through the window and removed $1,500 from Ronnie’s bedroom while Dan kept an eye out for the police. They split up the money and partied all night long. They dropped off Mickey’s car at the Next to the Last Chance gas station about 10 miles away and took a train to Anytown, a nearby city. While walking in Anytown, Louie kept watch while Dan went into St. Luke’s Catholic Church through a basement window. The church was closed at the time. Dan wanted items that he could sell for money. While in the church, Dan was surprised by Father Flanagan. Dan then punched Father Flanagan causing swelling and a mouse under his eye. Dan then went behind the altar took a $150 chalice (”vessel”) (“cup”) and a small bottle of sacramental wine. Louie signed Harriet’s name to one of her checks and made it payable to Dan. Both were arrested when Dan tried to cash the check at Greedy National Bank.
