my response- The leadership behavior needed to improve the work environment in the assessment is motivation. When employees are motivated by the leadership, they perform their work well. Empowering employees to achieve the company’s goals is all leaders’ behavior to ensure they work to their best ability (Northouse, 2014). Another leadership behavior required to improve the work environment is being just and fair to all employees. A good leader should be honest and just while handling employee disputes. A fair and just leader is unbiased when addressing issues that are affecting the employees. Fair and just leaders have acceptable standards that they apply to all employees without favoritism. The leadership skills that I would include in the organization’s leader’s toolkit are essential for understanding their strengths. Understanding one’s strengths are fundamental because utilizing them helps individuals be confident in doing their job (Northouse, 2014). A confident leader will have the same effect on the employees.
Another leadership skill is decisiveness in making decisions that are effective for the organization. Determination is essential, but it requires practice to be good at making quick and decisive decisions. Perseverance is necessary because it helps move projects faster by quickly making effective decisions (Northouse, 2014). Effective leadership is essential to an organization because a leader with good leadership skills helps to increase employee satisfaction. When employee satisfaction is high, employees do their work well and improve productivity (Hao & Yazdanifard, 2015). When job satisfaction is high, employees make fewer errors, increase employee productivity, and improve customer service. If employees are happy, there are fewer disputes encouraging teamwork because the employees are getting along. Good leadership is essential in ensuring the employee’s productivity increases, increasing productivity (Hao & Yazdanifard, 2015).
