TheObsolescence of Nursing Grand Theories for Today’s Practice and ResearchGrand theories in nursing refer to worldwide concepts that aimto clarify broad areas in nursing. Therefore, these grand theories providediverse lenses of looking at nursing. These theories began back in 1860 afterbeing first invented by Florence Nightingale. Her earliest claim was that purewater, fresh air, sunlight, cleanliness, and efficient drainage are necessaryto reduce morbidity and mortality. Grand theories were built around fundamentalconcepts like these and grew to encompass other approaches such that theybecame broad and complex in scope. These theories are critical because they provide the foundationfor standard nursing practices and patient care. Nursing theories arecontinually incorporated into the procedures and policies of academic hospitalsto ensure that nurses learn all the necessary skills and knowledge and acquirerelevant experience that will be used in real-life situations. Most hospitalsuse a wide variety of theories instead of sticking to a limited range.Furthermore, these theories are used to direct research and all medicalpractices. However, since these theories were developed many centuries ago, they may have become obsolete. We live in a fast-paced society where technology isadvancing faster than we can use it. Furthermore, conditions are changing dueto factors like politics, infrastructure advancement, the environment, genetically grown foods, and more. These grand theories are becomingineffective in solving the problems they were earlier intended to solve. Inother words, today’s conditions are not like they were in the past. Withsophisticated technologies, new and improved theories would serve societybetter and more efficiently than these older grand theories. Subsequently, themedical field is one laden with new research and findings to fight diseases, improve patient care and create a healthier society. Therefore, it would bebetter if doctors and experts in these field update their policies, beliefs, and procedures to reflect the new research and findings.*****Could you mention twomore reasons why Nursing Grand Theory may be considered obsolete?********also include me 2 references.*****
