The selection of readings this week will expose you to several types of archaeol

The selection of readings this week will expose you to several types of archaeology: bioarchaeology, forensic archaeology, historical archaeology, experimental archaeology, and archaeology combined with ethnography. I find all of these articles fascinating because they each explain how the methods of archaeology have helped to bring a different perspective foward, or have been used to solve a problem. Choose one of these articles to engage in for the discussion forum. You should include the thesis of the article and why it is of interest to you. Explain what your own stance is on the controversy that is dicussed. Support your argument with 2-3 outside sources that you find on your own. Please cite your sources, so that others may read them also! Keep in mind that all of these articles from the Podolefsky reader are brief overviews of the topic and you will be able to find more information on each topic to write a more holistic argument. For example, in Battle of the Bones, Native American control over ancient human skeletal remains and artifacts, is discussed. Can you find more information about the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) or more recent news about the legal status of Kennewick Man? What is your opinion of the controversy? There is no right or wrong answer – the idea is to develop a position, by educating yourself on the topic!Required Readingshttps://projectarchaeology.org/2016/08/08/trash-pits-and-site-formation/https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/father-modern-geology-youve-never-heard-180960203/https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/chicken-bones-may-be-legacy-our-time-180971027/https://www.nps.gov/subjects/nagpra/index.htmAnd the textbook that I have attached, chapters…Battle of the Bones, The Challenge of Race to American Historical Archaeology, Dawn of a New Stone Age in Eye Surgery, Feminine Knowledge and Skills Reconsidered and Identifying Victims after a Disaster.these are from page 85. See the chapters in the textbook that I have attached.
