Each Module Assignment must be between 1000-2000 words in length, and meet the following formatting requirements:

- Assignments submitted as a pages file, a text file, a google docs link, etc. will automatically receive a grade of 0. No exceptions.
- Be written in 12pt Times New Roman/Arial/Cambria/Garamond font only.
- Have 1-inch margins.
- Double-spaced.
- Spell-checked and reviewed for grammar and punctuation
- Word counts are provided for each question. This is intended to serve two purposes: 1) to help break the assignment into manageable sections and 2) to give you a sense of how much space you will need to provide a sufficiently detailed response to each question
Module 4: Legacies of Colonialism and Globalization
- Colonialism and Development (250-500 words)
- Define colonialism and imperialism, and explain the relationship between these two concepts in your own words.
- Identify and define two of the three major theories of development outlined in lecture.

- In Latin America, globalization and neoliberalism have led to the development of policies, such as the privatization of the water supply, that reduce local control over important resources. In what ways is globalization a “double-edged” sword that brings both benefits and problems to developing countries? Use examples from class (readings, films, lecture, textbook).
- Reflection: Peoples and Cultures of the World (250-500 words)
- According to UConn, Anth 1000 is: “an introduction to the anthropological understanding of human society through ethnographic case studies of selected peoples and cultures, exploring the richness and variety of human life. Encourages students to learn about different cultures and to apply their knowledge to make sense of their own society.” Reflect on the past 5 weeks. What did you learn about a culture that is not your own? What did you learn about your own culture? What will you take away from this course?
