To work this writing, we will analyze racial disparities in a data set.

? Step 1: Download the “WA3 Data” 

And Answer these question: 1. What percent of overrides involve a Black defendant?

                                                 2. A White defendant? (You can do this by hand or use the count function in Excel and dividing by the number of observations.)

                                                3. Black people constitute 26% of the population in Alabama. Are the differences in the override rates that you found sufficient to conclude that judges have racial bias? Explain you answer.

               c: White defendant and Black victim

                Do you think judge in this data set are statistical discrimination, taste-based discrimination, or neither? Justify your answer.
