This is for the ones who have the movie “Twelve Years a Slave”.
I do not have the movie so I can’t provide that.
Prompt: For “12 Years a Slave”: What are some examples of “paternalism” (that belief that wealthy slave owners should run their societies and take care of those about them) that are shown in the movie by white slave owners towards their slaves and even white neighbors. Also what are some examples of the limits of this belief when slave owners resort to other tactics to get their slaves to obey them like the use of violence. Lastly, two very different types of slave owners emerge in the film – Epps and Ford. Which one to you is the most immoral and why.
