FINAL PROJECTSince this is a Social Problems class, I would like for students to expand their thinking and consider a social issue that you feel like needs to be addressed in more detail. The idea is for students to write a proposal that demonstrates you have researched this issue and have developed possible solutions on on how to correct this issues. Then, students will be asked to present their research and findings in a recorded presentation.Part I: The Proposal (70 points)For this first part of this project, I would like for students to do the following:Select a Social Problem. This could be one that was discussed in the textbook and/or in class or one that is an agreed upon Social Problem in the United States or in other countries.I would like for you to research this problem and past solutions. I would ask that you do so academically by examining academic resources on the issue (not wiki sites).Based on your research, I would like for you to come up with new solutions to this issue.Once you have researched and devised your own solutions, I would ask that students write up their findings. In your write up, please include the following:What is the social issue you are covering? Why did you select this issue?How do we know this is a social problem or social issue?What have been common solutions for this issue?What is your solution(s)? (This can build on previous solutions by taking it to the next step or adding something different.)Why is your solution different?What theory we have addressed supports your solution?How would you go about being successful in accomplishing this solution?What institutions are needed to aid in fixing this problem? (Government, Religious, Educational, etc.)I would ask that students write this as a proposal, rather than a paper.
