Your answer to each question should be about 500 words.Section IAnswer the following question. Use complete sentences, and cite from readings, notes or other relevant sources to support your arguments. You may use parenthetical citations. Please use the sources and information I’ve provided as much as you can. You must cite pages, quotes or lines you found!Describe the rise of a ‘consensus’ in Britain in the aftermath of the Second World War, and its subsequent decline. What were the political, social, ideological and/ or global changes that contributed to its rise and decline? What role did Margaret Thatcher play in this process? Use specific examples drawn from the secondary and/or primary source readings (e.g. sources from 28 March as well as 2-4 May, including the Labour Manifesto, Peter Clarke, Stuart Hall, etc.), as well as lectures, and make sure to define your terms.Section IIAnswer ONE of the two questions below. ( I chose this question from the two)In his introduction to Empire (2002), Niall Ferguson argues that the British Empire, on balance, was a good thing – laying the groundwork for a modern, globalized world in ways that its successor, the United States, could learn from. Bernard Porter, in his article ‘British and American Imperialisms Compared’, seems more skeptical that there are positive lessons to be learnt from the British example; nevertheless, he sees several continuities (as well as differences) between the earlier and later forms of imperialism.Using evidence from either text or other sources we have read, explain whether or not you view the United States as an empire in the same sense as the British Empire. If so, what are the main similarities? If not, in what ways are they different? Please use the sources and information I’ve provided as much as you can. You must cite pages, quotes or lines you found! For both sections, please use Peter Clarke’s Hope and Glory: Britain 1900-2000 for information and citations as well.Sources for Section I-https://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/mod/1945labour-letsusface.asphttps://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/mod/1942beveridge.asphttps://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/mod/1945labour-letsusface.aspGreat Moving Right Show Hall pdf file (uploaded)Peter Clarke’s Hope and GlorySources for Section II-http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/27021Niall Ferguson’s Empire pdf (uploaded)Peter Clarke’s Hope and GloryI added and uploaded extra files that has information that might be helpful to the answers, feel free to check them out!Additional Sources:https://www.gutenberg.org/files/15776/15776-h/15776-h.htm
